Sudha Acharya featured on “Sundays with Seema”
On October 16, SACSS Executive Director, Sudha Acharya, was featured and interviewed exclusively by Seema Kumar on the weekly show Sundays with SEEMA on TV Asia.
During Sudha’s interview with Seema, she tells the story of her 35-year journey in active community work serving the South Asian and other immigrant communities in the US, and the 20-year story of SACSS in Queens and New York City: How it evolved into a unique, inclusive, holistic service provider offering assistance (in 19 languages!) to an ever-expanding, diverse immigrant community (of over 150,000/year) challenged by many needs. Sudha touches on defining moments in history that heavily impacted the community that SACSS serves, including 9/11 and the Covid-19 pandemic, in which SACSS’ services were literally life-saving and life-changing for so many with its support to healthcare access, culturally-palatable food security, Seniors Center, ESOL classes, and so much more.
Seema asks Sudha how the organization manages to do all that it does, to which Sudha replies, through donor support and by celebrating the community’s resilience at events like SACSS Gala 2022 “Coming Together, Striving Forward.”
Sundays with SEEMA is a television and broadcast series featuring remarkable stories of South Asian women who are pushing today’s limits and breaking tomorrow’s boundaries, broadcast on TV Asia, and on SEEMA TV.
