SACSS Women’s Wellness Circle Aims to Improve Women’s Health
Since its launch in October 2023, SACSS’ new program, Wednesdays for Women, has received a positive response from women who are learning to prioritize their health and wellbeing.
Every Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., women gather in the SACSS Senior Center where they participate in various wellness-related activities such as yoga and mindful art.
Recently, during a mindful art activity, they spent time decorating flower pots bringing out their artistry and creativity. While painting, they were encouraged to think about positive thoughts and shared stories about their families and love for the arts.
Through Wednesdays for Women, SACSS is able to provide a safe, nurturing space for women where they can build skills, develop self-confidence, and find solace in the companionship of others who understand and empathize with their experiences.
“I could see the profound impact that our Wednesdays for Women have on the lives of our community members. Our goal is to equip these women with the tools and knowledge they need to navigate life transitions and feel a sense of belonging in the community,” said Nushmia Shafique, SACSS program manager of Family Support Services. “I am immensely proud to be a part of this transformative journey and to witness the positive impact it has on the lives of the incredible women we serve in our community.”
