SACSS Executive Director Sudha Acharya Receives Power Women of Queens Icon Award
On the eve of Women’s History Month, SACSS Executive Director Sudha Acharya was honored as a Power Women of Queens Icon by Schneps Media on Feb. 29.
Organized by Schneps Media, publishers of QNS, TimesLedger Newspapers, El Correo NY, and Caribbean Life News, Power Women of Queens, presented by Bethpage Federal Credit Union, honors women leaders in the borough for their incredible contributions to their community.
Hundreds of women leaders — including CEOs, business owners, nonprofit executives, and professionals from healthcare to finance – gathered for an evening of networking, cocktails, and dinner at Terrace on the Park in Corona. The honorees had their moment in the spotlight as they danced down the red carpet to receive their gold trophy while their colleagues, family members, and other honored guests cheered them on.
As SACSS will be celebrating its 25th milestone anniversary next year, Acharya said they’re proud to be at the forefront of community care and support, especially women’s empowerment.
“We teach women how to be financially independent, giving them the opportunity to unlock their potential as entrepreneurs, leaders and changemakers of tomorrow,” Acharya said. “We provide a space where women can come together, support each other, and build community. It’s important for women to stand together and realize how extraordinary we are and what we can accomplish.”
In 2021, Acharya was honored to receive the Power Women of Queens award by Schneps Media for her outstanding work in the community.
“This award means so much to me and our organization that is helping to empower and uplift the South Asian immigrant community in Queens,” Acharya said. “Thank you to Schneps Media for hosting an event that brings together women leaders who are making a difference in the lives of others everyday, and paving a path for future generations to feel empowered and achieve their dreams.
