SACSS Community Members Learn How to Equip for Emergency Preparedness
Gathering personal documents, packing essentials, and knowing your region’s specific risks and evacuation centers are some of the steps to stay safe. Knowing what to do and where to go can minimize panic and confusion and maximize the chances of a successful outcome.
Following the presentation, each community member received a Ready NY Emergency Plan booklet with translations in Bangla or English, mini flashlights, and thermometers for their homes. They were also encouraged to sign up for Notify NYC, the city’s official source for information about emergency alerts and city services.
SACSS extends its heartfelt thanks to Jill and Ion for their invaluable contributions to ensuring our community members have the knowledge and resources to stay informed and safe during an emergency.
Thanks to Jill Cornell and Ion Ho from Ready New York, NYC’s Emergency Management’s public education campaign, our community members are well informed about how to prepare for all types of emergencies—from flash floods and hurricanes to fires and other environmental catastrophes.
