Job Description: SACSS is seeking a full-time Communications & Operations Manager who will oversee SACSS’ communications, a range of administrative functions, and provide support to the Executive Director.
Who We Are: South Asian Council for Social Services (SACSS) was founded in 2000 in response to critical issues raised around the tremendous barriers to social services faced by New York City’s fast-growing South Asian community. Since we first opened over 23 years ago, we have become a trusted community institution for New Yorkers.
Responsibilities
Communications:
- Create copy and graphics for SACSS’ website updates and social media posts on all SACSS activities
- Engage with and respond to social media posts
- Draft, and send monthly newsletters to SACSS donors
- Maintain donor database
- Create flyers, and other outreach materials for events, etc. as needed
Operations Management & Support to ED:
- Attend and participate in meetings, activities, and events, take notes and follow-up as needed.
- Draft and prepare general correspondence, memos, and presentations, etc.
- Coordinating organization-wide activities and assisting the ED with managing their schedule and setting up meetings
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with at least 2 years of work/internship experience in human services field
- Commitment to SACSS’ mission and passion for immigrant rights
- Understanding of AAPI communities and/or non-profit organizations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; persuasive communicator with a keen eye for detail
- Ability to work with diverse staff and flexibility to work on multiple tasks under pressure
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, adobe graphic tools and social media platforms
- Must be able to effectively multi-task, manage time-sensitive documents and have exceptional organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, and handle situations with tact and maturity.

Job Description: South Asian Council for Social Services (SACSS) is looking to hire a Healthcare Advocate/Navigator to enroll clients into health insurance and provide post-enrollment assistance. This candidate will also provide clients w/ patient education, referrals for services, manage programs to promote health and prevent disease and provide workshops on health-related topics.
- Provide information, education, advice, navigational services to clients on how to successfully utilize health insurance.
- Develop remedies that address consumer health coverage needs, dental coverage, billing and other areas of under-insurance.
- Respond to live calls from clients, family members or providers on SACSS’ Helpline.
- Provide health insurance enrollment services, as needed.
- Maintain thorough case records of services provided, advice and/or referrals.
- Other responsibilities identified by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in public health or related field required, Masters preferred
- Knowledge of a South Asian language is preferable
- Experience or knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and/or public health issues is preferred
- Prior experience in working with South Asian or other immigrants is preferred
- Should be able to work as a member of a team, and to work independently

SACSS (South Asian Council for Social Services) is looking to hire a Full-time Social Bilingual Worker
Responsibilities:
- Provide social services/case management to individuals and families on issues relating to government benefits, health benefits and economic support.
- Conduct mental health screenings and provide counseling services.
- Develop, implement, and facilitate support groups and recreational activities for seniors.
- Prepares documentation (assessment, case logs, case note etc.) as stipulated by contractual and agency standards and procedures.
- Assist with preparation of reports for external funding sources.
- Assist in special projects as assigned and perform other administrative duties as required.
Qualifications:
- BSW required MSW preferred
Bilingual in English and a South Asian language is must (Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, or Gujarati preferred). Candidate should be comfortable in providing counseling and case management services in a South Asian language. - Knowledge of Mental health screenings tools such as PHQ-9 and GAD-7 preferred
Prior experience in working with South Asian or other immigrants is preferred. Familiarity with benefits and other referral resources is a plus. - Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Should be able to work as a member of a team, and independently. Highly organized and strong attention to detail. Able to multitask efficiently and effectively.
