Empowering Communities Through Collaboration

United Way of New York team at SACSS

As part of the Connect2Care Program in partnership with United Way of New York City (UWNYC), SACSS hosted a Lunch & Learn workshop on Patient Self-Advocacy and a Health Screening event on March 20th. The event welcomed 45 community members, equipping them with essential knowledge on navigating the healthcare system and accessing vital screenings, with translation services provided by SACSS to ensure inclusivity.

We were honored to welcome Grace C. Bonilla, President & CEO of UWNYC, along with Kanchana Suggu, Senior Vice President of Food & Benefits Access and Health Equity, and the UWNYC team.

“Having been here in this visit, and knowing when my parents came to this country how hard it was for them, it is so heartwarming to see that the south asian community and many others in flushing has SACSS as a haven where they can come and do workforce development, get culturally relevant food, get healthcare that maybe they havent gotten in years. It is a real joy to see the vibrancy of this incredible organization,” Grace C. Bonilla said.

Thank you to UWNYC for your partnership and to everyone who participated in making this event a success! Together, we continue to strengthen our communities through knowledge, access, and care.
