Aditya’s Story of Transformation with SACSS

Aditya had recently embarked on a new chapter of her life, leaving behind the familiar landscapes of India for the bustling streets of New York City. With the challenges of such a transition, she faced an additional hurdle—she had no college credits and was caring for her children, making securing a job seem like an unattainable dream.

When Aditya heard about the Stitch with SACSS program, she was filled with excitement and hope, even though she had no prior experience in sewing or garment-making. Although she had never threaded a needle before, the idea of transforming fabric into something beautiful sparked a creative venture within her.

Throughout the four-day, 10-week program, Aditya dedicated herself to mastering the art of tailoring. She learned how to handle different fabrics, understand sewing patterns, and handle a sewing machine with growing confidence and skill.

“I’m proud I made all of these garments,” she explained, showing an apron, bags, and a pair of pants she crafted. “I’m so happy I found SACSS, and I thank the organization for giving me an opportunity to learn a new skill that will allow me to work from home.”

SACSS’s tailoring program provided Aditya with knowledge and skills and opened the doors she once thought were closed. Aditya felt empowered and motivated to continue exploring her newfound passion, thanks to the opportunity to learn and grow.
