DJ Rekha Rocking the House on Nov 2 at SACSS Gala 2022

SACSS is absolutely thrilled that DJ Rekha will be rocking the house with us this November 2 at our first in person Gala celebration in three years!

DJ Rekha will be DJing our festivities at Gala 2022 “Coming Together, Striving Forward” as we also will celebrate them as a pioneer in their field – with their incredible talent and merging of Bhangra and Bollywood sounds with contemporary electronic dance music, hip-hop, dub, and everything in between.

DJ Rekha founded Basement Bhangra™, one of NYC’s longest-running club nights until 2017, Bollywood Disco, and co-founded Mutiny Club nights. They were named “Ambassador of Bhangra” by the New York Times and won an extraordinary shout out from none other than President Barack Obama!

DJ Rekha have received numerous community awards and in 2009 was inducted into the New York City’s Peoples’ Hall of Fame. Their other credentials, including a Master of Science in Comparative Media Studies from MIT, numerous accolades, and community and other awards are just too many to mention!
