Whitestone church members lend a helping hand at SACSS Food Pantry
When Bryan Estranero, a licensed life insurance agent and investment coach, walked into the SACSS Community Center to conduct outreach regarding financial services, he saw a memo about the SACSS food pantry and decided to contact a staff member to discuss volunteer opportunities. That was the start of Estranero’s relationship with SACSS that led him, along with several other volunteers from Members Church of God International in Whitestone, to support the food pantry.
Every Thursday, while community members line up outside of the SACSS Community Center to pick up a bag of fresh groceries, the volunteers assist with food packaging and distribution in the bustling food pantry, which serves hundreds of families and individuals who are facing food insecurity
“It’s a blessing for us to see the fruits of our labor in the form of people lining up outside, thousands if not hundreds of people, getting the benefit of these basic needs and I hope it will continue on forever,” said Estranero, who is a member of the church.
The Members Church of God International (MCGI) is a Christian religious organization, with its main headquarters in the Philippines and various remote points and coordinating centers located around the globe. The members give back to communities through selfless acts of service.
“It’s really an encouragement for everyone, not only for church organizations, to one day be like your organization that aims to provide and augment basic needs like food and other services to the community” Estranero said. “There shouldn’t be discrimination. It doesn’t matter what background you’re from, what religion, the services must be available and provided to anyone in the community, especially those in need.”
SACSS is grateful to the Members Church of God International, and all of our volunteers for their time, service, and ongoing support to help us in our mission to serve the community.
